CHAMPSC.H.A.M.P.S
(Community Health Applied in Medical Public Service) is a one-week FREE OF CHARGE spring and summer enrichment program that allows junior high school students to learn about health professions and attend workshops that enhance their experience in the health care field

Program Activities include basic First Aid and Basic Life Support/CPR Certification, a complete review of careers associated with medicine and health-related professions, instruction on the importance of health promotion and disease prevention in medical care, a variety of hands-on activities that demonstrate understanding of basic science theories and health models, information to build a better understanding of medical terminology, increased awareness of teenage health-related issues, enabling each individual to make better informed decisions based on scientific data. Students accepted are required to attend Monday-Friday, 8 am – 3:30 pm, although depending on field trip schedules students will be required to arrive at 9:00 am. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided.

Application Requirements:

  • Want to learn about health careers
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher

Students who meet the above requirements are selected based on the following:

  • Academic, Athletic or other Achievements and Awards
  • Extra-Curricular Activities, Leadership, and Service
  • Essay describing the student’s desire to attend this program and to pursue a health career
