M4 Medical Students

2020-2021 M4 Rotation Options for Family Medicine and Rural Primary Care with Regional Campuses

Regional Campuses has several Family Medicine and Rural Primary Care courses available for the 2020-2021 academic year.  Starting June 2020, M3 students can sign up for future M4 regionally based rural medical courses provided through UAMS Regional Campuses, Community Health Centers of Arkansas and the Arkansas Rural Hospital Partnership.

The Community Health Centers of Arkansas and Arkansas Rural Hospital Partnership are new locations this year.  Accepted students will have the opportunity to work with family medicine and other primary care specialties in IM, Peds, OB/GYN, and General Surgery. M4 students may also be able to visit school based clinics, sit in on hospital or clinic board meetings and participate in community events as they relate to the hospital or clinic.

  • FMED-8448 Intensive AI in Family Medicine – This rotation is primarily inpatient based and you will round in the community hospital with the UAMS inpatient team.  This course is reserved for students who are interested in Family Medicine and must have a Family Medicine advisor.
  • FMED-8440 AI Family Medicine – Same as the Intensive AI but is open to all seniors.
  • FMED-8447 Family Medicine Primary Care – This rotation is outpatient based in the UAMS Regional Campuses clinics.
  • FMED-8402 Rural Primary Care – This rotation is based in a private practice clinic with a community physician, outside of UAMS.
  • EMER-8410 Emergency Medicine – You will work in the ER at the community hospital with their physicians and UAMS residents.
  • ORTH-8412 Sports Medicine – You will work with a Family Medicine physician who has a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine.  Some of your time will be spent working off site, in the community.
